The following are two short excerpts taken from my private, instructional website.
Take a gander, please, and remember the
complete private guide is waiting for you on line.
This website can not be reached through normal searching methods.
Only you will have the information by subscribing to it.| “…Convert all pages to PDF format onto a computer. Make sure your Windows Program supports PDF. If not, have someone convert your files on their computer or purchase software that can be downloaded on line such as Adobe 8 software by going to http://www.8-free.com/pdf/index.asp?PID=54c9a387-3194-4634-919e-4d3c8bc43e55&gclid=CJq7qtfchZECFQspFQodwjRCFg . It takes some practice to operate the program, but it locks all of your text, font, graphics, etc. into place, formatting your book as it should be. A few mistakes were in my first book, because I couldn’t convert it from Microsoft Office My Documents into PDF…” “…It is also a good idea to go to the post office with your application and manuscript copy and have them time stamp all pages, then mail a wax sealed copy to yourself and one to a lawyer or other professional person you know, not to be opened. This is called a 'Poor Man’s Copyright'…” |
These are only two of the many great tips out of the whole list of helpful hints and ideas that have worked for me and will work for you.
Just remember to copy and paste the black and white text of my instructional guide and print it out. |
OK...LET'S GET STARTED!
First of all, look up my website regarding the first book that I wrote and published.
http://www.agoldengirlpublishing.com
As you can see, my first website is a little rough around the edges but will be upgraded soon.
After reviewing my site, put on your “I can do it” hat,
start thinking and get started.
*Maybe you have special recipes that you cook for your family meals and they would make a good cookbook and educational tool for young brides or new mothers or anyone else. *Possibly you have some great tips and parenting skills to pass along or some helpful household hints. *A collection of spiritual and philosophical advice would be nice. *You might even have some poems or songs you would like to get out there. *Do you have a special craft technique or a new kind of idea or supply to share? *Some of you may have gone through some pretty traumatic stuff that affected you, but you rallied from it. *And, guys, you may have a tricky way to shortcut fixing a car, building a deck, learning the use of the computer for those who are a little foggy in the brain, or you might have a special landscaping idea and handyman tips. *Maybe you have come up with a new method of making an old sewing or quilting project or some new patterns. *Are you an artist who wants to share your painting techniques with others? *Another great idea is to turn the story of your life into a fictional novel using different names. |

When I decided to put my thoughts down on paper, it was 3 a.m. back on August 4, 2004. I couldn’t get back to sleep as I was drawn to the past to a time when my precious husband was killed in a mining accident 40 years before. Then I thought of all the stuff in my life that had happened to me before and since then like my many falls into the proverbial hole of despair as far as raising my kids, trying to survive, overly exploring sex as a tool to get someone to want me, getting divorced, getting married several times and dealing with sex perverts, liars, alcoholics, and emotional and physical abusers. I started thinking that maybe what I went through, and how I finally climbed out of it, might help someone else. But I was afraid that no one would want to hear about me…a virtual unknown. So, I completed the book that I titled “Kaliedoscope Reflections” and decided that I needed to establish a track record first. Becoming somewhat known, actually, would be difficult, I knew that. Due to some required courses that I needed to take in college called “Writing” and “Composition”, I became enthralled at how well I could get things down on paper. At my ripe old age of 72, just attending college was a self-esteem builder…learning was a challenge. I was now having fun, feeling better and gaining confidence in myself. I felt worthy and still do.
Because of the many situations that I had been in, it became clear to me, that men just don’t get it. Therefore, I put a blog up on the Internet and asked for female input, nationwide, regarding what women wanted in men. The response was great…some sad, some hilarious. That was the beginning of another book, “Three Guys and a Gal” where two older, yet still lively, women in Dodge City, Kansas decide that women need three husbands to satisfy their needs. My passionate, sexy, educational, historical and humorous saga leads Casey Logan and Suzanne Morrison down many paths of political and serious, yet, funny experiences. Their funny antics, wild love life and great ideas come to a satisfactory and agreeable ending that will possibly make guys sit up and take notice of what could happen if they don’t wise up.
But, I put that book on the back burner, too, because the news came out about an NFL football player, Michael Vick, and his horrible dog killing contests. I feared that children would hear of this on the news and maybe get the wrong idea of how to treat animals. So, again in the middle of the night in the fall of 2007, I came up with a story line that I just had to bring to completion. That’s when I wrote “Wild Thing” a story about an orphaned bear cub that was adopted by two elderly people who cared for and taught it to survive in the wild. The events after the bear cub was turned loose, lead up to some tears and better, yet, more funny stunts with the message being given to children to show compassion and respect for all animals.
So, with these things in mind, I quickly came to the conclusion that I needed to find a niche to this story. Using conventional and orthodox methods of writing did not appeal to me. I formulated a plan to have the students illustrate the book, to make pages colorable for kids and to have a CD included of the story, too. The idea went well. I typed it all up and took it to a local budget printer that I knew who printed out college thesis’…things like that. A CD was pressed at a local recording studio with me narrating the story. Then, like I was in my right mind, I had 100 books printed up and made up a website (more about that ln my private web site) telling friends and relatives about “Wild Thing”. A few orders were received and filled. It wasn't long before I received permission to promote the book in other ways (that information is in the private website, also).
Of course, that book gave me an idea for a sequel,
"A Long Winter's Nap", which was written on Christmas Day, 2007 and is awaiting publication and promotion. My track record is getting established. It all takes time, but now it’s time to help others by the giving of myself and what I have learned.
Please let me know what you think of the information I have assembled for you. In my printable guide, I will show you a simple way to get things done. No need to wonder what to do.
